BETHLEHEM, PA - Troubling news emerged from Philadelphia Eagles training camp this week suggesting that outspoken and often problematic wide receiver Terrell Owens, who has expressed displeasure with the contract he willingly signed only a year ago, and Eagles head coach Andy Reid, who has coached the team to the last four NFC title games and into last year's Super Bowl, may no longer be Best Friends Forever.
The pair's BFF status, which was professed when Owens signed a seven-year, $48.97 million deal with the Eagles before the 2004 season, was in question this weekend after Reid threw Owens out of camp for a week following a heated exchange of words between the two Wednesday.
"T.O. is acting like such a bitch," Reid told reporters Thursday. "I should totally just slam him in front of all you guys; he totally deserves it. But we said we were BFFs, so I don't want to do it because if we make up then I'll feel all bad and stuff."
Owens, whose outrageous antics have yanking a marker from his sock to autograph a ball after scoring and appearing in a racy locker room scene with Desperate Housewives star Nicollette Sheridan prior to a Monday Night Football broadcast, has reportedly been hanging out more and more with new agent Drew Rosenhaus, who may be saying bad stuff to Reid that Owens actually believes.
"Drew told me that Andy said I wasn't good, and that the Eagles would win the Super Bowl even if I didn't come into camp," Owens said. "He told me that, and I was like, 'Nuh-uh,' and Drew was like, 'Yuh-huh.' I can't believe I ever hung out with Andy. I hope he dies."
