Washington Nationals pitcher Esteban Loaiza delivers, much to the surprise of girlfriend Julie Lonsdale
TAOS, NM - Longtime baseball fan Dale Dreggers reported this weekend that his girlfriend of three years, Julie Lonsdale, was surprised to learn of the existence of Major League Baseball's Washington Nationals. "We were getting ready to go out dinner Friday night, and I had the Nationals game on," said Diaz, who subscribes to the MLB TV package. "Julie's like, 'who's playing?,' And I said, 'the Blue Jays and the Nationals,' and she's like, 'the Nationals? Who are they?'"

Dreggers said that Lonsdale was shocked to learn not only of their existence, but of their standing atop the National League East. "I told her about the Expos, and she sort of remembered them," Dreggers said. "And she said, 'oh, so somebody bought the Expos and moved them?,' and I was like, 'well, no, they just moved to Washington, but they still don't have an owner.' And she was like, 'that doesn't make sense,' and I was like, 'yeah, not really.'"

"I don't really follow sports," Lonsdale said, "but being with Dale you can't help but pick up some things here and there. I swear, though, I never heard of the Nationals. I was confused at first, because I thought there was already a team in Seattle. It turns out it's the other Washington, though."

Dreggers said that Lonsdale went on to comment three or four times throughout the course of the night on what a silly name "The Nationals" is for a team. "I haven't seen anything quite like that," Dreggers said, "since the time she first found out about the Houston Texans."
